Detailed description

Boone Golf Club is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Boone, North Carolina.

Boone Golf Club first opened for play in 1959. The course was designed by Ellis Maples.

This scenic course is located in the Appalachian Mountains. Although located in the Appalachia, the course was built on basically flat terrain, however, the greens are large and undulating.  Water hazards come into play on most holes.

#6, a 508-yard, par 5, is the signature hole. This hole has a dogleg right fairway that plays through the woods, a green that is hidden from view until golfers are 250 yards into the hole's design, and a lake crossing on the approach shot with a sand bunker on the right side of the green.  This hole is located in front of the clubhouse.

Boone Golf Club plays to a par of 71 and a maximum distance of 6,680 yards for a course rating of 70.1 and a slope rating of 120.

I love playing Boone golf course...driving the ball is very fair...greens are challenging and quite a bit of trouble to find if you hit it wildly like i do lol....wonderful place to play just weekend and holiday rates (prime season rates) are just a bit EXPENSIVE in my opinion...when you can play Rock Barn for $45 Boone shouldn't be $10+ higher...just one mans opinion

The course has wide fairways but some possible trouble with treees and water. The greens are pretty big and undulating, with a couple of "buried elephants". The 6th hole is a par 5 with the 3rd shot (at least for me) over water to a green that can send a shot hit almost to the center back to 30 yards off the green. This is a fun course to play. It does not require too much local knowledge unless you want to hit your approach shots close, but you will not be bored.
